Undercity of Jaerak
"Over 3000 years ago the Jaerak founded this Undercity of the Dwarven kingdom of Domari. it started out as a small settlement but expanded significantly during the Dragon War when it housed dwarven refugees.
When it was founded the Undercity of Jaerak was little more than a collections of caverns with homes carved from the walls, home to a little over a hundred dwarves. Mushroom farmers made up the majority of the inhabitants, and over the next few centuries it grew slowly as more mushrooms were discovered.
When the Dragon War started many refugees fled to Jaerak, which remained safe for a long time. During this time the existing network of caverns and tunnels was quickly expanded, which led to the discovery of the Mountains' Heart around 1750BP; a large rock emitting a bright light with veins reaching deep into the mountain around it. The dwarves where intrigued by the discovery and started to attempt to recover the rock for themselves, after which the Undercity quickly became a hot target for dragons. This discovery nearly lead to the end of the Undercity as it was nearly destroyed and largely collapsed during the fighting in the centuries that followed.
After the Dragon War the dwarves renewed their reverence for the mountain spirits and started digging out the ruins of the Undercity. When they found the Mountain's Heart they declared in a holy site and a place to offer worship to the mountain spirits. Since then it has become an important site in dwarven religion and many others have been found. Priests visit the Hearts of the Mountain to ask the mountain spirits for guiding or blessings, festivities are centered around the artifacts, and king's swear fealty to it.
With the reclamation of the Undercities a new age of prosperity came for the dwarves. They started carving out large halls showcase their prowess as craftsmen. Palaces were carved out from the Mountains, as well as estates of noble dwarven families, large bazaars, and countless homes. Since the Dragon War the Undercity has become home to over 7000 dwarves. "
