Red Coral
Located at the top of the north shaft of Trident's Trench, this aquatic settlement is a protectorate of the Mysterium. It remains one of the most valuable locations in the Mysterium due to the healing power of the local Clawed Fish salve. The salve is typically known more by the name of its source town as opposed to its biological origin, Red Coral Salve. The close alliance with the sea elves provides the Mysterium with excellent ocean druids who assist greatly in the maintenance of the ocean fleet.
Demographics
Populated by multiple peoples, the most commonly found are sea elves, mermen, and aquatic gnomes. Small enclaves of the more surface populations exist in isolated buildings, limited usually by the spell wards needed to make the water breathable by land dwellers.
Government
The town is managed by a Greve of the Vertic Court and Elected council. The Greve has complete control over the security and military affairs, particularly in the defense against the fishmen empire of Gurgilipop.
Defences
They stalks are a ring of towers with large structures on top making them look like eyestalks. These act as a permitter defense with superbright glow lamps to alert nearby towers and the town to potential attacks.
Industry & Trade
The production of Clawed Fish Salve is of particular value, and dominates much of the trade with the surface world. Of more minor trade is the trade in pearls, sea vegetables, mother of pearl, and squid. Due to the proximity to the fishmen empire only limited undersea trade occurs in the region, so most trade occurs with nearby Matermar.
Infrastructure
The town is named due to the massive living citadel of red coral that is the capitol building. While referred to as a single building, it is actually a series of chambers throughout the coral reef. Other towers of stone and cave chambers make up the rest of the city.
