Yoronith
The Yoronith are also known as squid men. They are feared due to their desire to enslave and eat all manner of creatures they consider lesser than them, which is basically everyone except perhaps dragons.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Yoronith are a parasite of sorts that infect sentient species. They cause them to grow elongated craniums and squid like tentacles that come from the mouth. They have highly developed senses of smell through their tentacles.
Dietary Needs and Habits
They are carnivorous and have a need for proteins more prevalent in brains. As such they find brains a delicacy, and prefer the brains of sentient's over the more bland animal brains. They are also prefer them with a garnish of thoughts which requires the brains to be eaten live. This penchant is why they are considered evil and attacked by everyone possible.
Biological Cycle
They embed their tadpoles that are produced by the Controller into various creatures, and it takes over their bodies. This produces a variety of versions and common mutations depending on what type of creature the tadpole is embedded in. In sentient creatures one in 5 fail to have a proper transformation, one in twenty become slave masters with enhanced mental control abilities, one in twenty become squad captains with enhanced communication range, one in thirty are flesh warpers and have enhanced ability to modify creatures, and one in a thousand or so become a new controller.
Most successful variants become generally human shaped, the exceptions being the failures and the controllers. The Controllers slowly morph into giant breeder flesh bags that constantly emit a southing telepathic signal, and produce the tadpoles used for species propagation.

Social Structure
Yoronith suffer from debilitating headaches, except when in proximity of a few miles of the controller. While the controller has a personality and great influence it doesn't completely control the Yoronith community. It acts as a central hub of daily life and communication. The Squad Captains are able to maintain connection with the controller to extend the soothing influence over a far greater range of a dozen or two miles, and are able to provide a limited soothing capability for extended sorties. The slave masters and flesh warpers manage the "cattle" and alter it to serve their needs. As they are universally hated, it is easier for them to skulk about in underground hideaways or deep sewer systems than in obvious locations. So their contact with most other civilizations is by rading party or black market ties.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
They have the ability to speak telepathically and have an innate sense of biology, making them great at medical experimentation which they practice on their "cattle". They also have the ability to telepathically stun their prey which they use to great effect.

Naming Traditions
Their interest in pack behavior makes them more focused on the roles. Most names are actually just combination designations a group role and physical feature. Given that these names are transmitted telepathically they can contain nuance that makes them difficult to translate to verbal language without being fairly long. Roles include Worker, Supplier, Slave Master, Squad Master, Warper, or Coordinator. Physical traits are often things like: Eye Wart, long tentacle, unequal Legs, left eye ridge scar etc.
As an example, the "Squad Master Rough Right Elbow with Mole" leads "Supplier Weak Ankles" and "Worker Loose Upper Left Tooth Ridge" on a mission to gather new slaves.
