Aetherians

The Aetherians are an ancient space dwelling species residing within most of the galactic nebulae in the neigbourhood of Earth in the realm of the World Of The Long Sleep, during the epoch of the Awakened World and in the age of the Pax Helsporan.
Their anatomy incorporates a form of biological radio transmitter and radio receiver, and they communicate with each other and with other species using this mechanism. Whilst radio is a common technological development in the wider galaxy, it is much more unusual to find it as a naturally evolved anatomical sense.
Aetherians feed on something they call "the Aetherian flux", a form of energy perhaps related to dark matter (or perhaps not) which they say is common thoughout the galaxy, although it can be locally depleted by over grazing. Aetherians take a particular interest in the formation of new solar systems and are known to congregate in stellar nurseries. It is possible that they can exercise some control over the early development of these systems and they claim that they do this to improve the chances of life developing and thriving later. Some Aetherians apparently engineer features purely for the joy of astral and planetary modification and for aesthetic reasons having nothing to do with their potential future as a home for life.
The Aetherians do not belong to the Galactic Compact but they maintain friendly relations with the species that are members. Indeed, some amongst the Suquedren and the Biolons, revere them and find them holy, calling them "Creator Angels".
An encounter with any Aetherian is rare and awe inspiring.
