Dowth Docks

Dowth Docks is a city on the continent of Equatoria which was granted a charter in the late Foundation Age in 1433 AF. It had developed from a small port on the eastern coast which expanded with the increase in trade volumes to the growing population of Fereth. It became an important transport link, helping to connect Fereth with Trass and was a vital part of the world economy, in the age of the Succession Empires and into the time of the Trade Wars.   The image at the head of the article is a painting by Kiara Uthetti from 1926 AF, entitled "The Sand Dock". It is an impressionistic interpretation of one of a beach landing zones in the northern part of the bay, where the flatbottomed sailboats of independent traders could be unloaded in the sandy channels that were just deep enough to navigate at low tide. These docks are no longer in use as trade has declined in more recent ages and they were always considered somewhat risky berths. Now all shipping uses the deep water harbour further south and closer to the centre of the city.
