Fereundun Falls

The Fereundun Falls are a tourist site on the Jold River in Punjuki, upstream from Katrapetch. They are at the limit of navigation for most forms of significant shipping. Whilst small boats can continue beyond the Falls, further west along the river and into the Katra Mountains, people and cargo must transfer overland around the Falls via a long path which follows a sweeping series of s-bends to gain height along the southern shore. This is known as the Ferendum Steps, something of a misnomer since the original steps which took a more direct and steeper route can be bypassed in favour of this longer and gentler ascent, more suited to transporting heavier goods.   The falls themselves consist of three major cascades, the upper, middle and lower, with a score or more of lovely tumbling side channels which have been artfully gardened.

The area is geologically active with geysers and hot pools to the north of the river, some of which can be used for bathing.
