Geigamon (Guy-ga-mon)
The Geigamon are a locally important species within the Galactic Compact, at least since the end of the Great Forgetting, although they may not have been around in those earlier times when the Vow of Earth was taken. At any rate, they claim to know nothing about it. The image at the head of this article shows a Geigamon merchant.
Geigamon "water liners" and "high liners" have been regular visitors to Earth orbit, since 1956 AF and they maintain an extensive network of trade routes in most of the galactic sectors closest to Earth.
The illustration below shows a set of habitat pods embedded within a water liner. These environments are carefully designed to represent elements in a functioning ecosystem which can recycle resources over long periods with minimal wastage and maximum variety and complexity, so that the Geigamon can travel in a comforting small scale simulation of the richness of their homeworld.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Geigamon are an amphibious species originating on a large, low density water world orbiting a spectacular ringed gas giant in the habitable zone of a K type star. In appearance, they somewhat resemble enormous frogs, aproximately three meters tall with a pair of huge limpid green eyes and a wide fleshy mouth. There is some variability in skin colour and texture, although it is always a shade of green which may be mottled or plain.
The Geigamon sentry shown in the image below is representive of the smaller warrior class.
Ecology and Habitats
The Giegamon like warm environments with a high degree of humidity which is uncomfortable for humans to endure for any length of time. Their "water liner" and "high liner" class of starships are largely distinguished by the relative volumes of water they carry, with the former providing extensive open bodies of liquid in which they can swim. Water liners are considered to be the more luxurious method of travel but their relatively high mass makes them expensive to run.
Geigamon like to travel in controlled recreations of their native ecosystem which consists of a sweating jungle of green and yellow vegetation. They seldom venture outside the comforts of their starships and are never seen on Earth. The usual practice for negotiation requires that humans visit them in designated contact rooms on their ships.
Additional Information
Geographic Origin and Distribution
The Geigamon originate in the meta-gradient worlds and this is the location where the majority of their colony worlds can be found, but they have spread throughout the region of the galaxy currently explored by humans and might be encountered on any warm and wet world.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Giegamon diplomats, like the one shown in the illustration below, are considered to be particularly skilful in establishing relationships with unknown species and maintaining peace and security with rivals within the Galactic Compact.
