The Kingdom of Han is the only contemporary centre of relatively advanced human civilization on Earth Primal. It occupies a small region in the far east of the continent of
Laurasia, bounded by the Tethys Sea to the south and east and the
Han Wall to the north and west. The capital city of
Hanjing, by far the largest settlement, oversees a few much smaller outlying towns and villages which all lie along the local rivers, the Jixelle, the Jade, the Lotus and the Xerithan.
The Han king is the supreme ruler of the kingdom and there has been an unbroken line of succession now for 533 years since the first king was anointed. The current king is
Han Jian, the youngest to ascend to the throne since the kingdom began. He rules through a council called the Will of the People, a body of one hundred individuals which convenes at the Peoples' Palace. The Will of the People has a leader elected by its members, called the King's Hand. The current holder of this office is
Chen Chang. It is further organised into five subcommittees with ten members each. The committee chairs, known informally as the Fingers are very important members of government and together with the Hand they are often the defacto rulers of the Kingdom although they must always defer to the king, who has final authority on any matter they cannot agree upon and can overrule them even when they do agree. The committees are listed below in an aproximate descending order of the power they wield, although this is not always clearly defined as there is always some political jostling for power between the committees, particularly in areas where their remits may overlap.

The Kingdom of Han is about five hundred years old. It grew from the unification of three smaller tribes, the
Han, the
Xerith and the
Jix who succeded in establishing small fixed settlements and the basis for agriculture, when they developed
Cave Farming to the point where it could sustain larger populations. This allowed further for the development of metalworking, providing weapons which offered some form of defence to discourage herbivorous mega fauna from trampling over buildings, although there was little that could be done against hostile carnivores.
The nascent civilisation was given a great boost when they discovered how to domesticate
diplopacks and four hundred years ago, a project was begun to construct
the Han Wall, a boundary around the region the kingdom claims as its own. Much of the heavy lifting required in building the wall was done with the aid of diplopacks and it could not have been imagined or built without them.
The wall took more than a hundred years to complete and still requires regular maintenance but it was a great success in enhancing the security of the kingdom and allowing
Hanjing to grow to become a true city.
All people in the Kingdom of Han are all considered to belong to the state religion, known as the Way of Han, a hybrid of the original belief systems of the Han, the Xerith and the Jix.
