Gix Aria

Written by invadersforever

One of the largest permanent settlements in the Dragon Lands , the coastal city of Gix Aria is at the forefront of Duuloa Gix 's mission as well as the stronger Draconic Cults resistance.   Additionally, as it is so large and resource rich many other factions have attempted to gain political influence and control there.  (Aka see 'Factions' for all the interesting stuff)

Demographics

Nearly every ethnicity of Dragonborn can be found in Gix Aria. The {Southern Coast}  and {City} are native to the region, though there are many more . Additionally, many of the {Desert}  have moved to Gix Aria both for new opportunities and more space. While {North Coast} are rarer, there are still a good number who come to trade. The rarest are {mountains one}, {mountains 2}, and {plains}.   There is also at least one dragon living in Gix Aria, though there have been rumors of a clutch of eggs.

Government

The government is run by the Cult of Naerdras and the New Imperial Council. Both take orders from the dragon herself. Due to the need to protect Naerdras, the details of how they commune with her are kept secret.    Gix Aria is a theocracy, built on the remains of the Draconic Empire. While the city itself is very diverse, only {City} dragon blessed are permitted in government and leadership positions.

Industry & Trade

The main industry in Gix Aria is fishing and seafood. Farming and trade are close seconds. The city is one of the few places where nearly every transportable good in the dragonlands can be found. Gix Aria has a regulated trade-based economy, and does not have any currency.

Guilds and Factions

Draconic Cults

Nearly every Draconic Cult can be found in Gix Aria, each with one of two goals: find a way to dispose of Naerdras and take the city for their own dragon, or defend Naerdras from these attempts. The Cult of Naerdras is the only cult that is openly present, and they spend many of their days hunting down the others. Cults have subtly influenced many parts of the city, though it is almost impossible for those who don't follow Naerdras to gain any real power.

Imperial Council

While the Imperial Council are tied to Naerdras and her cult, they work towards a slightly different goal. The Council wants to bring back the glory days of the Draconic Empire. They rule the city and investigate the ruins at it's base, searching for a way back. While their mission seems largely impossible, the Council insists that their goals are within reach.   Unlike the Cult of Neardras, the Imperial Council is willing to employ agents not explicitly aligned with Naerdras, including non-{city} dragon blessed. These agents still tend to hold lower and more secretive roles.

Duuloa Gix

Gix Aria is one of the largest population centers, and thus one of the best places to forward Duuloa Gix's mission. Their operations within the city are even more secretive than the Cults. They have made steady progress based on their point of interest being completely separate from Neardras. As Duuloa Gix sees it, eliminating the current Dragon would only lead to another Dragon taking over, and possible civil wars.    Instead, the rebels work from the shadows. They establish schools to teach the common folk skills and trades, and were secretly involved in creating the first true hospital in the Dragonlands

History

Gix Aria is built on the ruins of a much older city, the name of which is unknown. This ancient city was part of the Draconic Empire, and was almost entirely destroyed when magic was removed. At some point later on, the city started to be rebuilt.   The {city} claim to be the living descendants of the dragon blessed who lived in the city originally. Seeing as they aren't found anywhere outside of the city, this claim seems plausible.    Gix Aria's position on the river and later the coast allowed for it to support a rapidly growing city.

Architecture

The majority of Gix Aria is made up of simple mud brick buildings, sometimes built on the foundations left over from the original city. There is one major exception to this: the Tower.   The Tower, or the Claw, is what gave Gix Aria it's name. It is constructed in the same style and material as the other buildings in the old city were. It is taller than anything else and curves eastward towards the sea, like a dragon's claw. Many believe that the Tower is Neardras' home, and that the demi-deity's influence stopped it from being destroyed with the rest of the city. Considering how widespread this rumor is, and the threats to Naerdras' life, it is highly unlikely that Naerdras is still there.    Furthermore, it is known that the Cult of Naerdras operates in the Tower. it seems unlikely such a long lived cult would risk leading others to their dragon.

Dropped a follow on this world because Dragon Cults sound so cool and now I'm curious about what Naerdras is.
