Puddlefoot, The Treasure Hunter

Last I knew, he was infiltrating a sect of The Voidbound Cult. He stumbled on them while delving into the ruins of The Old City.
The Oracle suggesting Marcus recruit Puddlefoot.
Like all Small Folk, Puddlefoot awoke on Akir when The Dreamer added them to the world. The goddess hoped they would ease the sorrows caused by The Nightspawn Incursion. From the very first, Puddlefoot found himself curious about Akir's history. He wanted to know what had happened before he awoke. Old maps and ancient relics fill his heart with the hope of a new discovery. The wonders of the world call out to him.

The Oracle's Companion

Puddlefoot has set up residence at The Shrine of Insight. It's been a great base of operations for him. The Oracle has been an accommodating host, and the empty shrine has plenty of room. The proximity to the ruins of The Old City beneath Copperhill has been convenient.   The Oracle had been suffering from a severe depression for years before Puddlefoot showed up at his door. Puddlefoot does his best to be a supportive friend. He's grown to enjoy occasional trips with The Oracle to The Astral Watchtower. It isn't often that The Oracle agrees to leave home.

The Nose Knows

Puddlefoot's nose points the way to treasure. He has the innate ability to detect nearby valuables. His love of forgotten history sometimes lands him in danger. Somehow Puddlefoot always seems to come away with an amazing find and a new piece of lore.

Collector of Maps

The largest collection of maps on the entire world of Akir belongs to Puddlefoot. He's spent his whole life obsessively collecting them. The flooding caused by The Ashen Eclipse and The Infernal Deluge has submerged most of the world of Akir. Very few of the places on Puddlefoot's maps are explorable. His collection of maps is the most complete cartographical record of the lands lost to catastrophe.

Treasure Hunter's Backpack

This backpack is equipped with a small pair of retractable gliding wings to help Puddlefoot land safely if he falls from a great height. The interior never runs out of room, no matter how many dusty tomes or shiny gems he stashes inside. There's a separate pocket for his maps. Whichever item he reaches for always seems to find its way into his grasp - he never loses time rummaging around.

The Malaise

The Oracle suffers from a great depression caused by his existential crisis. He spent years studying The Dreamstone Codex hoping to better understand the nature of The Cosmos. After drinking Mindburst Tea made from Psybloom flowers, he glimpsed beyond his own reality. His mind has not recovered.

Thanks, Emy! I was worried there wasn't enough room for another adorable adventuring companion in my story. I guess there's always enough space for another little guy. :D

Not only a very nice companion, but a concept cute enough I actively need to resist the urge to steal him. Lovely read :)

Yours truly, Nino.

Awe, thanks Ninodonlord! Puddlefoot's Midjourney art was a Happy Little Accident that I wasn't trying for. He's inspired a bit by Mouse Guard - David Petersen's comic book series and TTRPG about little mice heroes: https://www.mouse-guard.net
