Mana

Mana is the life force within every living being in the universe. Mana in itself is a very volatile, malleable, complex force of energy that originated from the A'dan, the Cosmic Forger. From this seat known as the Throne of All, A'dan forged countless of stars to scatter his light across the universe. Planets are born from the death of stars, which implode in a vast explosion of energy and the concentration of Mana accumulates into a newborn world with an abundant amount of Mana. Each world that is born has different quantities of Mana; the more Mana a dying star had, the bigger the planet will become.
The planet Earth was like any other planet scattered around the universe, but upon the fracturing of the Cosmic Forger, its heart was launched into the vast of the cosmos and crashed onto the young world. The heart contained a near-infinite supply of Mana that it overflowed the world. The elements of the world became chaotic, shaping a young Earth with drastic ecosystems and unique living entities based on the natural elements.
Humanity eventually was born from the millennia-long conflict between the elements, granting them innate mastery over their own Mana. Over the years, when the conflict subsided, humans resorted to their Mana usage less than before to the point that it was long forgotten with the exception of a small sect of humans. These humans called themselves "Mana Sages", later shortened to "Mages", and recorded the history of the initial conflict of the elements, their genesis, and their struggle to live in a world where the casting of Mana was slowly being forgotten.
Upon the arrival of The Stargazer to Earth, lured in by the influence of the heart of A'dan, a group of Mages took her in curious by her nature, later discovering she was not human at all. The Stargazer, named Emerald, taught to her fellow Mages about the ongoing cosmic conflict between The Light and the Darkness. Emerald, being made up of pure raw Arcane Mana, became a symbolic entity for the Mages and aspired to embrace their magical nature to co-exist with non-Mages. Their numbers expanded, even reaching to humans that learned how to manifest their own latent Mana, and collectively called themselves the Star Seekers in honor of their newly-found leader. Star Seekers learned to control Arcane Mana, and eventually a subsequent and more powerful type of Mana they called "Cosmos" Mana, which said to contain the power and intensity of the stars and the universe. As the Stargazer and her Star Seekers became more prevalent in human society, the Mages became more notoriously arrogant against their non-Mage peers, seeing them as inferior and calling them "savages". While the Stargazer didn't seek any conflict with humans, the Star Seekers drew an antagonistic attention from them, eventually being hunted down. Months pass by, and the Stargazer claims that this is not what she desired on her upbringing. As so, she offered herself as a sacrifice to prove that Mages mean no harm, and are only misled by personal vendettas. Only a few of her followers did the same, while the rest abandoned her to her own demise and broke apart, running away from society and deeming humanity as a dangerous plague to the world.
Mages collectively formed their own secluded villages, away from the scrutiny of non-Mages, to study the essence of Mana itself and record their research and findings in multiple tomes to secure their lives' work for the future. However, members of their own society became overzealous, seeking to attain more knowledge and power. These Mages furthered splintered and formed their own societies, such as the Sunwalkers, the Eye of the Matrix, the Druidic Circle, the Cryogenesis, and the Seafarers.
It would be that in the late days of the Age of Kingdoms that the heart of A'dan would reveal itself to the world and be named the "World Mana Tree" when, for an unknown reason, it pulsated a wave of energy across the entire world and awakening the slumbering Mana that humanity contained. Many humans became able to manipulate Mana the same way the extinct Mages did. This event marked the dawn of a new era, called the Awakening and thus marked the beginning of a new age in history known as the Age of Mana. Those humans that regained their abilities to manifest Mana would be known as "Awakened", distinguished from the common Mages that preserved their abilities for their own culture.

Types of Mana

Mana follows no law of nature or physics, so it can take almost any shape or form. While it is found out in the world as forms of natural Elemental Mana, Mages and other users have further developed arts that can create Mana beyond the Elemental types.

Elemental Mana

  • Fire Mana: The hot flames of torches, bonfires, candles, natural wildfires, and volcanos.
  • Water Mana: The encompassing oceans, seas, rivers, lakes, and rain.
  • Earth Mana: The land that shapes the world.
  • Thunder Mana: The violent energy that strikes from the skies.
  • Wind Mana: The air that life breathes.
  • Ice Mana: The icey cold sensation.
  • Nature Mana: The encompassed Elemental energies that exudes life undisturbed.

The Virtues Mana

The Virtues are the counter-aligned cosmical Mana that exists beyond the world. These are the Light and Darkness Mana.
  • Light Mana: The Virtue of Good and Life.

  • Abyssal Mana: A semi-artificial type of Mana that fuses Water and Darkness.
  • Dragonic Mana: A unique natural type of Mana derived from the Mana forces of dragons.
