The CEDARUS family is old Rhuani blood that has been ennobled for over 250 years. They originally gained favor in the 1st Midlands Campaign and earned their banner and rights. They held minor parcels in the CROWN LANDS up until -97 BL when LADY LAULOENA CEDARUS’ behavior and threats culminated in her threatening the life of the King. The family lost their lands then and made their way on the hospitality of old Rhuani families in the south.
In -59 BL, the CEDARUS family was rewarded for their service and historical ties to chivalry and service. The DAMATHOR family invested them with a manor for their service as Banner-Knights. They have continued to serve in this capacity since.

The CEDARUS family has, despite its past poverty, has maintained it RHUANI bloodline. Their formal Rhuani traditions were one of the touchstones of the family while in disgrace and they have become very important to the entire family. These formalities are a foundation to the family's pride and they have not deviated from the old ways in any substantial way. This is unlike many other Rhuani households that have eased on their traditions or incorporated western traditions alongside them over the past couple centuries.
This practice is treated like a 'lucky charm' rather than a formal rule. While there were definitely some lingering feelings in earlier generations, this current practice is assumed as for long as they have been following it--the family has been successful.
Uncomfortable With Feminine Heirs
Since the family regained lands they have been uncomfortable with passing the reins back over to a woman. This has resulted in Succession Councils that have chosen the oldest male regardless of birth order. They have passed over three female Heirs and the fourth, GAILAYA, has already been apprised that she will not be inheriting the family estate. This behavior represents an oddity albeit acceptable through the Succession Council authority. Other families have taken note of it but those familiar with the family’s history tend to accept it.This practice is treated like a 'lucky charm' rather than a formal rule.
