Hyradis Keep

Hold of Hyrad-the-Stone

The Seat of the Free-Lords Emerule, Keep Hyradis is a beacon of warning on the southern shore of the FINGER that has held against the Cuth for years immemorial. Though it has fallen several times in the distant past the keep has never done so under the stewardship of the EMERULE family. The Hold of Hyradis-Stone, its formal name believed to be associated with an ancient tribal warlord, dates back to before the arrival of the Rhuani and is famed for its long history. While the keep that stands upon the hill in this day and age has been rebuilt multiple times, the holders have always seemed to recycle much of the stone blocks that had first formed the foundation of a Dawnfort before the Coming of the Throne.

History

The lore of HYRADIS KEEP speaks of a coastal warchief that created the first foundations of the Dawnfort before the arrival of the RHUANI (ca.-300 or earlier). This warchief was one of the first to organize the various tribes that were defined by settlement and fishing territory into a more coordinated group against CUTH attacks. The warchief's name was Hyrad-the-Stone; so-called the Stone as it was said that his ancestors were Giants and he was born with their stone-tough hide. The eventual fate of HYRAD is unknown although there are stories of a rough-hewn stone sarcophagus buried deep beneath the keep that is too large for any normal man. But no one living has ever claimed to have seen it.
