The Rape of Ishtar

During the Reshaping Year of Betrayal, Tharizdun secretly attempted to siphon away some of the divine power of Ishtar, specifically the portfolios of darkness and the night. He came to her in the form of a great shadowy angelic creature and entranced her with his voice. He then slowed time using his command over entropy and stretched out her divine essence so he could pull out the powers he sought from within her. This event is known as The Rape of Ishtar.

Had he been successful this would have made Tharizdun the most powerful of all of the gods. However, Primus noticed the discrepency with time and without knowing what had caused it he used his control panel on the Infinity Web and made the necessary correction.

When time was restored, Ishtar snapped out of her trance. Realizing what Tharizdun had done she lashed out against Tharizdun who escaped into the Abyss. Ishtar then donned her Quicksilver Armor and went after her attacker. They fought through the Underworld, shattering dimensional barriers and nearly destroying all they had worked to create. It was Asmodeus that notified the other New Gods of the conflict that was raging through his newly acquired realm of The Hells.

Thus began The Betrayal War.
