General Summary

Galrik decided to travel to Peldan’s Helm as the rest of the party decided to do various tasks before regrouping and investigating the Zhentarians near Shadowdale. Galrik took his documentation and startup funds provided by Lord Amcathra and traveled to Peldan’s Helm.
As Galrik rode into the village, he noticed a large hill with a strange monolithic stone pillars on top. Galrik stopped and made his way up the hill. As Galrik inspected the monolithic stone pillars, he saw strange runes etched into them. Galrik tried to make out what the runes were but was unable to. Around the hill he saw dead men, women and children in various states of decomposition. The vegetation was also dead in this area. Making a note of the surrounding areas, Galrik continued to make his way into the village.
As Galrik approached the south gate, he stops to inspect several of the surrounding farms houses with had been destroyed for signs of life. Unable to locate anyone Galrik approaches the village gate. The village gate and wall shows signs of an attack with several areas being destroyed. Galrik rode into the main center of the village looking for the village hall. The village center had been destroyed with the village hall showing signs of being destroyed by fire. Galrik found additional bodies of the village’s militia rotten in the streets. Some of the body’s bones looked like tree limbs. Galrik notices on some of the building are covered in thick patches of moss. With no signs of life, Galrik headed to the east section of the village.
Galrik spots a large building with make shift barricades around the ground level doors and windows. As Galrik rides over he notices the sign over the front door reads the Graceful Deer Hunting Lodge. Galrik stops and looks in one of the windows. Inside Galrik can see there are signs of life as there is a fire in the fireplace and some supplies stocked by a bar. Galrik makes his way around the back of the lodge and forces a window open. As Galrik climbs through the window he is encounter by a female dwarf with golden hair pulled back with a headband with a feather attached to it. She calls Galrik to quickly enter before it hears him. Galrik pauses for a moment before introducing himself to the dwarf and showing her his documents. The dwarf tells Galrik she is Dunora and she is the guild master for the lodge. Galrik inquires what happened and Durora tells Galrik about a week ago three men showed up to the lodge claiming they are in search of big game. The lodge is a staging area for adventurers who come to hunt monster in the surround forest. Durora tells Galrik these men appear to be different from the rest and she sense they were looking for something and was lying about their business. Durora got strange vibes by the half-elf. He had several strange tattoos of druidic markings on his neck and arms. She felt death around him. The leader of the trio was a human male who was a smooth talker. He had a strange map and was interested in finding a creature called the deathwalker. I never heard of the deathwalker but provided some information about some creatures in the area. They ended up talking with another group of hunters before leaving the lodge. Later that night a strange creature appeared out of the woods and attacked the village. The creature shows up every night stalking the remaining villagers killing them. Durora describes the creature as being 15 feet tall with four-armed made of moss and splintered wood, its face sinister and mouthless. Durora states the lodge has runes protecting it but the magic is fading from the attacks from the creature. Durora does not think anyone else is alive. Galrik tells Durora he will face the creature and try to destroy it. Durora tells Galrik he should not face it head on and use what is left of the lodge’s protections to their advantage.
Galrik and Durora prepare the lodge for the creature as night falls. As night settles in, Galrik hears a lumbering noise coming from the woods. The creatures steps out of the woods and lumbers its way towards the lodge. It pauses as it senses the area and then turns and hurls a puffball at the lodge. The puffball exploses as yellow dust coats the area of impact. Durora pulls out her mandolin and begins to sing as Galrik feels enpowered by the song. Galrik moves to the window close to the creature and unleashes his breath weapon agains the creature stiking it. The creature angerliy claws at the building trying to reach into the interior. Galrik pulls his sword and strikes at the creature as Durora moves away from the arms. The creature strikes Galrik as Galrik tries to counter strike. Durora unleashes another song at the creatures causing the creature to free in place. Seizing on the opportunity, Galrik goes in for the killing blow while the creature is frozen. The creature lets out a shreak as Galrik deliveries the killing blow. The creature starts to decompose into a large mass of moss.
With the creature destroyed, Galrik rests for the night before deciding what to do in the morning.
