He sought to inspire his troops and protect the vulnerable and those in danger. When he was in combat shoulder-to-shoulder with his wife Shaerl, Mourngrym always took a defensive position to shield her from harm.
Lord Mourngrym preferred close combat with the biggest and most powerful blade available, as he had disdain for ranged weapons.
Mourngrym's body was possessed by Yder Tanthul during the invasion of Shadowdale where the Zhentarian forces occupied the town and attacked Elminster's tower. The party was able to remove the possession by Yder Tanthul and restore Mourngrym.
