Sune, The Lady of Love

Deity, Core Pantheon

Sune is the goddess of beauty, expression and love. Her worship is primarily shown through outwards appearance and response to beauty of others, a view opposite to that of Lliira, The Joybringer.

Description

Sune is depicted as an elegant woman of long fiery red hair, dressed in a near-transparent white gown. Her eyes vary in colour but always crystalline. She is mostly associated with rubies due to her hair, though emerald eyes are commonly seen.   Her voice ranges with various emotions, from caring and nurturing to alluring and passionate. Some say this is due to her presence not being direct and instead her followers receive emotion to interpret themselves.

Activities

Sune guides her followers in ways that support the portrayal and creation of beauty. She bestows her followers with magic, as well as divine guidance for the creation of art, the maintaining of societal beauty in the world around her followers, and ones physical appearance.   Other than her interactions with mortals, she played a small role in the greater landscape of the Everplanes.

History

There is no mention in historical records for when Sune first came to be, though her earliest appearance dates back to circa -1700 MR during the Age of Humanity. Some speculate she came to be due to the expression of love and beauty within mortals being such a powerful thing.   There are stories surrounding Sune's relationships with many deities of the , mostly lost to time.   Throughout the Arcane Epoch, Sune's distaste towards the Lord of Battles grew and as religious groups in service of Tempus caused acts of destruction, her followers rallied against them. The two deities never directly fought.   During The Divine War, Tempus encouraged an assault on the churches of Sune that offered shelter to those during the Genesis Eclipse. Sune stayed away from direct conflict until Lliira's life was threatened. Sune attacked Tempus, disfiguring his face with a horrid scar, though no further damage was dealt.

Worshippers

Sune's clerics sought to bring beauty to the world in many forms, all of which were pleasing to the senses. They created great works of art, became patrons for promising actors, and imported exotic luxuries like satin and fine wines. Her followers also enjoyed looking beautiful, and hearing tales of romance.   The highest ranking priest to Sune in a given church was called a Heartwarder.
