Rain

God of Knowledge and Silence Rain

He could hear them closing in, their heavy footfalls echoing on the stone cobble, he was running out of time.   "Hurry up, they are getting closer!" Called out one of his companions, an elvish man with cybernetic limbs.   "You can't rush a spell of this complexity!" Muttered the masked doctor in response to his companions exclamation. If this worked, it could solve all their problems   The mans second companion glances towards the door of the chamber, his eyes narrowing behind his mask as he prepares his dagger.   "There, that should do it," Exclaimed the man, before chanting out a complex incantation while pressing his hands against the ritual circle he had drawn on the floor. For a moment, nothing happened, then the world was shredded, consumed into a haze of empty whiteness.   The three companions hung there in silence for a brief moment before the elf broke the silence,   "Did. . . did that work? Where are we?"   But no sooner had he spoke, than a voice echoed out from behind them, both young and childish, but also old and wisened.   "Well well, now that was a bit of a surprise, I didn't think you had it in you! Nicely carried out! Don't worry, the second you freed me from my magical prison I drew you into my own domain."   Slowly the three compatriots found themselves drifting around to face the figure behind them. A gnome girl, looking only 16 years of age sitting in an oak chair suspended within the infinite white, stares into the souls of the three mortals before her, while her wolf like ears sit raised at attention.   "I must say, I would have never had expected you to be able to pull of casting a wish spell like that. Now, I think I owe you my gratitude for your assistance."   With a concerned expression on his face, the elf asked, his voice trembling win uncertainty, "Just who are you?"   Upon hearing these words, the smirk on the figure's face went limp. "Who am I?" The girl's face slowly contorts into a manic grin, and she exclaimed in glee, "Who am I? I am Rain, once I was little more than a god of knowledge, but now I am so much more, I am the world, I am the universe, I am the host to all of reality. The other gods sensed my growing power and sought to lock me away out of fear, but now, I am free! Step forward children of earth, for your efforts, I shall grant to you what you desire the most."   Rain looked the doctor in the eyes, her smile growing even wider, "To you, dearest doctor Kemmler, I grant knowledge beyond knowledge, sight beyond sight" A series of inky black tendrils suddenly lashed out from behind doctor Kemmler, wrapping around him, he tried to scream, but his mind was already being flooded with more information than his human mind could ever understand, and he disappeared, returned to the mortal world.   Turning her attention to the human assassin to see him struggling with his bow, attempting to fire off an arrow at her, a slight look of concern crossed Rains face "Oh, I see you have dedicated your life to the Twins sweet Aborash, know that not even their domain has any sway over me any longer. To you I give the opportunity to rethink your life's choices." More inky black tendrils sweep out from the white void, grappling the young man, dragging him back to the mortal planes.   "And lastly you, beloved Sarukira." Rain turned her attention to the elf. "To you I return to your people, whichever tribe, whichever clan, whichever family you wish for, shall become your new future. Pray you do not squander this gift." The umbral tendrils once again, wrap around the hapless mortal, returning him to the mortal plane.   "Then I was left alone, floating in my infinite sea of white. I will watch over this world, keep an eye on the people that make up its existence. Whenever someone is willing to give all for their pursuit of knowledge, I will be here, waiting to take their tole."

History

Sibling Deities are rare. Gods are considered siblings if they were born from the corpse of the same god or celestial. Rain and Diavalo are two such gods. Born of the corpse of one of the great Hierophants, Rain and Diavalo immediately took a disliking of each other. Rain was scholarly and meticulous, while Diavalo hungered for war and destruction. Diavalo would often push and abuse Rain, taking advantage of her relative weakness compared to his strength. Rain always resented the abuse her brother inflicted upon her, and dedicated herself to finding a way to slay a god so she could be rid of him.
