Cloning Facilities

Finally I found it, pure and unadulterated strains of human DNA. I'm going to be laughing at the ones who laughted at my work! Wait a second... *Checks the Computer* Dammit! How can be all freaking strands so damaged? This is a disaster! This fluke is going to cost me all my future funds! Wait a second... *Looks at the cat* Yes, it will work, cats are also Earth-born species, if I sample the DNA I can fill the gaps so nobody is going to find out. *Runs the simulations* No!No!No! You are not supossed to have a tail! This is a disaster, my investors are going to be SOOOO dissapointed... unless, yes, maybe if I go a little further I can say I have found a new alterated strain consisting of Catgirls! - Rivt, Shervken scientist and adventurer, with a very unhealthy ammount of caffeine in their veins.
Cloning facilities always have been a rare technology, since the Empire of Gaira only made use of them in very specific circumstances where more traditional methods were not an option. But unlike other marvelous technologies, it runs on Minor AI so once restored it could be replicated without much trouble.
Since often these kinds of facilities stored DNA a lot of groups have been searching for DNA of the original human strain to restore the species but so far all the recovered samples are modified strains, often to adapt to specific environments. Also, since the facilities are centuries of years old the samples are often damaged or destroyed. In any case, as samples are rare, any usable strand is always a celebrated achievement.

Inner Workings

Cloning facilities is a misleading name as the facilities are not made to clone people at all. The samples of DNA are single-strand genomes, carefully examined to avoid recessive diseases, that are combined with the other samples to create unique or almost unique human (or other species) beings as happens in natural-born humans, and it is recommended to work with at least four samples. This was designed to avoid the uncanny effect of having large populations of identical persons and ensure the individuality required for proper psychological development. Depending on the facility AI, the mixing will be more or less conservative.
Usually, unless the engineer of the facility is very unresponsible, the computer always checks the resulting DNA before sending it to the incubators, and after a few months, usually five or six, the baby can be retrieved and nurtured as usual.
