Wyvern

Wyverns are a distant, aggressive cousin of dragons that lack front legs.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Wyverns are smaller, ranging from the size of a housecat to a full-grown lion or larger. They have given up their front legs for wings. Wyverns have longer claws, a long whip-like tail with a sharp barb on the end, and they are more formidable in the air than a dragon. A group of three adult wyverns of the largest variety could take down a less-armored dragon with ease. Additionally, most dragons have trouble keeping pace with a wyvern, though the faster species, like electric and storm, outpace them with little to no effort. It is rare to see a wyvern not in the air.

Genetics and Reproduction

Wyverns reproduce sexually.

Ecology and Habitats

Wyverns usually live farther up north, seeming to have a higher tolerance for cold than their cousins, but still prefer warmer climates if they can reach them.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Wyverns are carnivores, and can take down even the largest of prey if traveling in a pack.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Wyrms do not get along well with dragons in particular, and are suspicious or even hostile toward most races in general. They get along well with "darker" variations of races, and the residents of Hell.
