Cl. Iduron Vicary

History

Cl. Iduron Vicary is a vicary in Central Larfleur. It is the site of the Larian government. Many Larian landmarks are within the vicary, including the Old Palace and Cl. Iduron's Laucon.   The vicary is based around Senate Junction, which radiates in front of Cl. Iduron's Laucon, one of the oldest Laucons in the city. Senate Junction was the site of the hanging of the last Velairean officials in the city in 378 AT, marking Larfleur's long-lasting independence. Adjacent to the Laucon is the Lichyard of Portica Street, which is the burial site of many of Larfleur's most important figures. The Old Porticum gatehouse had its wooden and iron doors removed to widen the gate and allow more traffic to pass through.   Cl. Iduron's Vicary was traditionally home to the bureaucratic families of Larfleur, who lived in tall townhouses. Rising town houses in recent years led to most bureaucrats relocating to the towns around Larfleur. Only the wealthiest and most influential civil servants still live in the vicary.   The Old Palace was home to Larfleur's Mayorsince independence. The New Palace of Larfleur is located some 12 miles north-east of the city, which the Mayor uses to host foreign dignitaries and as a summer retreat. The Old Palace Gardens are used by civil servants to eat during their lunch breaks. A cafe and sheltered seating areas provide spaces for meetings all year round.   In the evening, the district is much quieter, with those spending the evening in the district meeting in its pubs and taverns. These public houses serve rich food and beer for those working late into the evening or performing their social duties.   The vicary is the site of various official buildings, including the Board of Foreign Affairs, the Treasury, and the Board of Imperial Affairs.
