Magician

This occupation belongs to a large set of professional practitioners of magic. While revered "mages" are known for their ground-breaking discoveries, the more famous magicians will be those who learn and practice magic on a regular basis. This occupation is incredibly common for those with a fascination for engineering or unconventional war tactics.

Career

Qualifications

A degree from Highlander University of Superior Education (HUSE) or some other prestigious university, or else no one will hire you. There are, of course, talented abnormalities that would count as an exception to this rule.

Perception

Purpose

Most often, these highly educated individuals spend their time completing laborious tasks with their gifts. The few extremely affluent or talented magicians, however, will be given truly enviable jobs.

Social Status

They are viewed as upper-middle-class citizens, placed on a similar level as doctors would be in our world. This is because the nature of their practice is heavily disputed, though not nearly to the same degree as mages. Magicians are easy to fear, which the Parapoptsi use to further their personal agendas, though mages are their primary target.

The most apt description of a magician's social status would likely be:"a less-famous mage". However, some would protest this.

Operations

Tools

Magicians are likely to have an artifact or talisman of some sort on their person at all times, and will use it on a regular basis. The specific magical object and its ability varies depending on the wielder, but it is usually something small or light.

Dangers & Hazards

Like mages. magicians might spontaneously die upon recognizing some new truth about reality. This makes exploration and innovation incredibly dangerous.
