Brother Gurp

Brother Gurp is a bugbear that was apparently (?) encountered by Drant in his solo mission to acquire the rust monsters harrying the under-construction power line to Ambervern.¹ The details of this adventure were not shared with this lowly historian but it can be deduced that Brother Gurp developed a fondness for the rust monsters in question and agreed to protect them for Drant when he absorbed them into his hive mind.

He is very large, and very dumb, but very formidable when it comes to protecting his ‘Holy Cattle’ - he punched entire trees down with just his bare fists to make them a pen,² and smashed goblins who were threatening his wards into a ‘bloody puddle.’³

When the entire Soular Power Caravan fled Stonedeep across the continent following the Vocantem, he loyally shepherded the Holy Cattle with them. In the orc ambush on the caravan near Mau, he defended his Cattle, nearly with his life, though he and most (but not all) of his Cattle survived.⁴
