Stonedeep
Government
Stonedeep maintains a semi-autonomous government under the colonial oversight of the Volaris Empire. It holds democratic elections to fill seats of power, most notably the mayoral seat, which oversees the day-to-day operations of the city, but officials report directly to Volaris representatives on issues of greater import. The Empire supplies military forces to the settlement both to defend it and ensure that its officials continue to act in a way that is beneficial to the Empire. The governmental center of operations is the Volaris Embassy, a city hall building which was renamed and converted to an ambassadorial center after the Empire conquered the settlement and surrounding lands.
Geography
Stonedeep is nestled in a forest at the edge of a valley, hugged tight against the base of the mountain which houses its titular mine. Further up the mountain, in a forest a few miles from the bulk of the settlement, lies the power plant which singlehandedly supplies the city with its electric infrastructure.
Natural Resources
Self-sufficient. Plenty of lumber and stone for building. The spotted grasslands of the valley below are warm and fertile enough to raise small amounts of livestock and crops.
