Greatsword of the Inheritor

This greatsword was obtained from Roger Deathbane's body after the final confrontation of Operation Toast - Heist on the Stalwartz Embassy, in Sune's Cave. Its sister is the Inheritor Full Plate.

HISTORY

Fritz, ever wary of curses, refused to let Gregory wield the sword until it was properly inspected. Upon meeting Traj'miir, Fritz inquired about its properties. He Identified it as a Greatsword of the Inheritor, saying that he had heard tales of such pieces, and even seen them in action, though he had never had the opportunity to study them. He knew that they indeed came with a rather powerful curse: latent mind control, urging the wearer to follow the “leader” (being Ragnar Volaris), whom they would zealously follow and kill and die for, magnitudes above simply conforming to the law or being a shining citizen of The Volaris Empire. It had the potential to be a fairly powerful magical artifact, but the curse went hand-in-hand with the enchantment, and the wearer had to don the piece's sister - the Inheritor Full Plate - which shared the same curse, or the item's primary enchantment would be dormant.

Dismayed, Fritz donated the set to Traj'miir for further study, asking that if he were able to remove the curse somehow that he contact her or the Caravan and offer to trade or sell it back to them, before offering it up for public sale. She traded him a Clockwork Toy - a very nostalgic item, and one of the first things she ever crafted - as a divination focus to assist in that regard.

PROPERTIES

A surprising amount was revealed by Traj'miir about this piece. It is functionally a +3 greatsword, with the versatile property, and deals 2d6 slashing damage one-handed, or 3d6 two-handed. It bears the curse outlined above, and will not function if not used in conjunction with the other half of the matching set.
