Soular Power heard in passing from Timothy Ryder that Kirby Venteicher was the only other architect in town who could possibly be of a caliber to match Timothy’s own.¹ Jalan later approached Kirby to design and construct the Pleasure Barge - which Kirby initially refused, claiming it to be beneath him, before Jalan insinuated that he’d go to Timothy Ryder (Kirby’s biggest rival) to design it instead, upon which declaration Kirby immediately agreed to do it.²
