Khemia

Khemia is a nation located in the Senu Desert, southeast of the Aeriscan League and east of the Kharadim Mountains. The oldest Human civilization on Tel, the lands of Khemia are filled with the ruins of tombs and temples of prior dynasties from up to 8,000 years ago. The Asri River runs through the center of Khemia and the majority of its cities and towns are built along its banks.

Religion

The current state religion of Khemia is known as Metdjen, which translates from the Khemite tongue as "Way". A faith of many public rituals and sacrifice, Metdjen is mainly practiced by the nobility and priestly caste. Growing in popularity among the common people, however, is the Tariqan faith. Likewise, a significant minority of Khemians still belong to Ouranic Church, having converted during Rexan occupation or being descendents of Rexan or Eknoi colonists.

Foreign Relations

Since regaining their independence from the Rexan Empire after the rise of Nefastius the Lich-King, Khemia has recognized the fragility of its situation. Prized for the mystical knowledge and artifacts that lie beneath the Khemian sands, the Eknon Empire seeks to reclaim Khemia as an imperial province as a rightful heir to Rexa. Likewise, the Shayrid Empire seeks to expand westward to finally fufill the millenia-long Arhani dream to conquer the Central Sea region.

As such, Khemia keeps what friends it can make close to its bosom. Recognizing that it is in a similar position, the Aeriscan League maintains friendly relations with the Khemian monarchy, however, long-standing religious differences keep relations from becoming closer.
