Minor Fey

NOTE: Minor Fey known in the Freelands includes Blind Dogs, Displacer Beasts, Quicklings, Pixies, Sprites, and Red Caps

Basic Information

Anatomy

Generally speaking most Minor Fey creatures resemble miniature Elves in nature, as they are both very much tied to the Feywild as a whole.   Most Minor Fey creatures are quite small and tiny in nature, typically they stand anywhere a from 4 feet to only a few inches tall. For example Red Caps typically stand from around 3 to 4 feet tall and weighing around 50 pounds, where as Pixies roughly stand at 2.5 feet to as little as 1 foot in height.   At least half of all Minor Fey have wings resembling that of an arthropod, namely that of butterflies or beetles; Pixies have silvery, moth-like wings while Sprites have insect-like ones.   But even those who did not have wings tend to still be quite dexterous and nimble. For example, a distinct aspect of Quicklings was their blindingly fast movement.

Biological Traits

Almost all Minor Fey are servile in nature to more powerful Fey such as Hags, Elves, and various Archfey; they tend to serve as familiars, pets, guides, guards, or minions to whomever can convince or intimidate them.

Genetics and Reproduction

Most Minor Fey reproduce similarly to most animals, with a few magical exceptions.

Ecology and Habitats

Almost all Minor Fey can be found in the Feywild, Avalon, and some more secluded areas of the Freelands. Places rich with nature and green magic are the most common locations, with a few exceptions.

Most Minor Fey are omnivorous in nature, eating either small seeds and fruits or small animals they capture.

History

Supposedly the first Minor Fey were born in the Feywild and many Scholars believe that Minor Fey may be Elvish creations like Dwellers and Beastfolk are. Some claim that they, and their Elvish cousins both, were created by the first Hags. The research on this topic is limited and borderline heresy in nature.
