The Feywild

Geography

The geography of the Feywild mirrors that of the Freelands, but with a twist. Significant mountains, lakes, cities, and monuments become more elegant and magical with a touch of "Art Nouveau"; creating an almost alien perspective of the Freelands and the Material Plane.

Ecosystem

The ecosystem mirrors that of the Freelands as well, with an extra level of vibrancy to the animal and plant life. Meaning the animals and plants there are just as likely to kill and eat any wandering adventurers as they are to eat them. Giants, Monstrosities, giant Plants, and of course an extensive variety of Fey creatures inhabit and wander this place.

Ecosystem Cycles

The seasons are not cyclic within the Feywild, the seasons mirror not necessarily the Freelands the way one would expect. Seasons change based upon the mood of nearby Archfey, whether they are wandering by or by adventurers who enter their particular domains. The same goes for day and night cycles; though the same stars, suns, and moons fill the sky, they do not control cycles of day and night here. Thus, how and why time tends to either move exceptionally fast or slow here and why adventurers get lost and come out in different eras if they are not careful.

Localized Phenomena

Namely, the issues with time dilation and the day-night cycle is among the most notable phenomena to any adventurer that happens to wander into the Feywild. But to the locals, the changing of seasons themselves are troublesome as the seasons reflect their own moods or the moods of a nearby Archfey that one should be concerned about. A warm summer day in the Freelands may be welcome sight if one has plenty to drink and has shade, but in the Feywild a sudden bout of summer air may mean that a fiery, bold, and powerful warrior Archfey is in the vicinity and may be approaching. Or a winter breeze may foreshadow a coming icy, callous, and dangerous mage-like Archfey is on her way. Magic is in the air in the Feywild in a way changes the way the world works there in the most subtle and dangerous of ways.

Fauna & Flora

As mentioned before, the major flora and fauna of the Feywild relfects the major flora and fauna of the Freelands and where the parallel location is. Ergo if there is a crossing in a Freelands swamp then the Feywild there will be a swamp of some sort as well, with the addition of more fey creatures if nothing else.

Natural Resources

Many of the natural resources, again, mirror that of the Freelands but in excess. If there is an orchard in the Freelands of fruit trees, then in the Feywild it would be a wild fruity forest of whatever fruit there was. Between the twists in magic, there is the excessive amount of magic itself in the Feywilds. Many scholars believe that the source of this magic may be from the Archfey themselves that wander this Plane, others claim that is the soil which is Trinity Hestia herself.

History

They Feywild has existed as long as the Freelands and the Shadowfell themselves have, it is a positive and magical reflection of the Freelands and is as part of it as it can be. Though some more heretical scholars and clerics believe that the Feywild may represent and be Trinity Hestia while the Freelands is Trinity Cybele of the triple goddess of the Green. This would explain why the Feywild is so distinctly tied to the Freelands unlike other Planes the other Deities rule over and are a part of. But this would also suggest that the Shadowfell is just as tied to the Freelands as well, and is Trinity Hecate. Such a thing is very troubling indeed.

Tourism

Adventurers are not truly adventurers if they have not stumbled at least once into the Feywild on their travels, but they tend to not stay long. Besides the local animals, plants, fey, and Archfey; their only "mortal" residents there would be the Elves who fled from the Freelands thousands of years ago during the Great Revolution. These Elves were twisted and warped by the magicks of the Feywild and become what is known as the "Eladrin", a distinctly moody race whose appearance reflects their own emotional state as one of the four seasons.
