House of Korzhûn

The House of Korzhûn is the local base of operations for the House of Leavings in Korzhûn.   It is located a league southeast of Embermore Keep, and according to some is older than the keep itself. Its main approach is a promenade beginning on the East Road and forking southeast to meet the Kor Well , a once-large spring. The Kor Well is also a strong Ega Root -- much-envied by other Houses -- and the Shepherds’ House had been built in and on the eastern side as a result.   Apprentice Shepherd Fieron Eburos currently presides over most of the House's activities, after the death of Master Shepherd Altith landed an early promotion on his shoulders. He is currently the highest-ranking Shepherd in Korzhûn. He has specified that their twice-daily prayers be before dawn and around 3PM.

Purpose / Function

Mortuary, chapel, monastery, spiritual site.

Design

Like all Houses, it consists of a receiving area and chapel, quarters for the Shepherds, a Mortuary, and a Well (and within the Well, a Basin). The House of Korzhûn has five floors, with its Well at the very bottom, the Mortuary on the fourth floor, storage on the third, Shepherds' quarters on the second, and the chapel and receiving area on the ground floor.

Architecture

"The front facade on the upper level sat on the promenade under a stately, vertically-fluted stone dome capped with a vane of the four crossed shepherd’s crooks of the House of Leavings. That same four-armed symbol embossed the large wooden gates that stood open to the fine air, and the rest of the visible building was otherwise well-crafted in plain masonry the same honey-colored tunnite of Korzhûn’s cobbles. Evergreen ivy had blanketed much of the building and, on the side that overlooked the Kor Well, cascaded down to partly-curtain the many balconies of its five floors."
