Ustrarian City Guard (Oos-TRAR-ee-an)
The Ustrarian City Guard are the law enforcement agency employed by the Korzhûn Stewardship to keep peace and order in all major cities of Ustraria by enforcing their edicts. Although they have mild combat training, the Itoqir will work with them on any large disturbances or defense as needed.
It is not unusual for former members of the Itoqir to first retire to the City Guard before outright retirement from service, and in peacetime or when the City Guard is short-staffed, active military members may also serve in the City Guard.
Structure
They are overseen by a Baron of the Guard via three regional Commanders; additionally there is one Captain per city (known in Korzhûn as the Captain-Prime), who commands a host of Lieutenants and Guards. Depending on location and need, there may be Specialists employed.
Culture
Uniform
Typically armed with hatchets as both weapons and utility devices (e.g., in case of fires). They wear whitebark-bleached lamellar leather armor with a matching formed leather helmet with an attached soft leather open-front gorget and tassel; the helmet's collar may tied across the lower half of the face for protection or when fire-fighting. The armor's plates are rounded diamonds to mimic drake scales.

Public Agenda
Protection of the Ustrarian people, the peacekeeping of their lands, and enforcement of the laws decreed by the Korzhûn Stewardship; support of the Itoqir if necessary.
History
Orihne Basania took on the position of Chief Warden of the Shogu Holding in the Season of Closing, 991AC. Though she could not responsibly rally true shogu, she instead was instrumental in solidifying militant and civilian infrastructure in Korzhun with the help of Mhadan Ghuzneind, including training supplemental recruits for the Ustrarian City Guard to restore order to the city. In this respect, the City Guard can be considered to have four abridged "Holdings" trained by her, though they were not referred to as shogu or as Holdings. Though never referred to as Baron of the Guard or Captain-Prime, many of her trainees affectionately refer to her as "Baroness" in casual settings.
