Potatoes
The Gates are home to a variety of potatoes that come in all sorts of fun shapes, sizes, colors and flavors!
Corkscrew Potatoes - These potatoes were found by DAN while they were out looking for vegetables for the evening meal on Nurend 04, 308. They are, as the name suggests, corkscrew shaped and quite challenging to remove from the ground without breaking. They provided potato textures to the Monkey Stew that was made by Frode that night, and may have been what caused the strange dreams experienced by the Spiritual Travelers...though we could also blame that on the Spirit of Christmas, right?
Wild Potatoes - Through extensive surveying of the land near the Expedition Base with Agave, DAN was able to locate a source of Wild Potatoes on Nurend 07, 308 which they have since began cultivating into a stable crop for the Spiritual Travelers. Wild Potatoes are the multicolored, awkwardly shaped and sized ancestors of the more consistent russet potatoes enjoyed by today's Taranelians. Beyond flavor and dense nutrients they don't bring any special effects to the table, but they are easy to grow and incorporate into just about any meal.
Sweet n Spicy Potatoes - The interior of these potatoes have an unusual marbleing of purple and green. Their flavor is a bit sweet with some spices like cinnamon and cloves. They were first discovered while rafting on the bayou through Pluarsh ec Relovut on Nurend 16, 308 and were used in a meal using the flowers of Death Blossoms to cure the Spiritual Travelers of blight.
