Swamp Fever

Swamp Fever is a disease which is found in Pluarsh ec Relovut. It was contracted by several members of the Spiritual Travelers on Nurend 17, 308 as they were escaping the swamp.
Frode and DAN were the first to begin experiencing symptoms of a mild fever near Lemostodrensa. Frode chose to hide his fever.
While in their Casino Suite in Dorchar, the Spiritual Travelers witnessed Agave become more and more feverish along with DAN. Agave attempted to bathe and relieve the fever which resulted in roots sprouting from his arm. Namina treated this with some magic and also began treating Frode as well. Frode's roots were a lot more severe, grew from his feet, and caused an immense amount of bleeding and pain.
DAN, however, was treated with more experimental means from Hysteria. A simple poultice was developed from some vines, roots and bile of the Death Blossoms, the first attempt was less than successful but did begin to treat the apparent symptoms. They retried on their cart while heading west the next day, and DAN appears to be fine now.

Causes

Swamp Fever is found in the swamp water of Pluarsh ec Relovut. It is often contracted when an unsuspecting adventurer stumbles into the water and accidentally inhales, swallows, or gets the water into one of various open orifices. The origin of the illness is largely unknown, though it is isolated to this particular swamp and is likely spewed from the intestines of Death Blossoms.

Symptoms

The only observed symptoms of this illness have so far been a mild fever which becomes increasingly more intense with time until water is provided to the fevered individual. Once the subject is sufficiently hydrated the next symptom is revealed: roots.
Roots sprout from different locations depending on the individual, but they are most often seen growing from calves, ankles and feet as those are usually closest to the ground. Though some oddities may occur where roots grow from arms (as seen with Agave). These roots closely resemble the roots of a Death Blossom. What this means or what this would lead to was unclear as the illness was promptly treated by Namina's magic.

Treatment

Hysteria has developed a medicinal cure for this illness which involves a very thick and muddy poultice which is applied to the entire body. It has been shown to reduce swelling, fever and the uncomfortable pain felt in the extremeties most likely to produce roots.
Namina was also capable of treating this illness with her clerical magic.

Prognosis

It is unclear what could happen if this condition were left to continue its course. It could be theorized, however, that the roots which grow from the afflicted are an indication that those that fall victim to this illness eventually become Death Blossoms themselves, with an eagerness to return to their home in the swamp. This would then assure that more of the illness is spewed into the same swamp water and creating future generations of Death Blossom.
