Vine Beasts
Vine Beasts are the horrific amalgamation of beast and plant as a result of the vine's parasitic methods of survival. The vines are incredibly prehensile, dextrous and strong being capable of grappling Hysteria and holding the beast up in the air by attaching to trees. These vines are also very poisonous as experienced by Hysteria.
The Writer mentioned and drew Vine-Wolves in a bestiary entry here: Vine Wolf, Unblinking Sein, Fjarverand. Unlike the vine-boar encountered by Kaswink, this vine-wolf seemed to be missing all of its legs which were replaced with vines. The Spiritual Travelers first encountered this creature-plant in the evening of Nurend 05, 308 when Kaswink managed to incapacitate and then butcher a Vine-Boar. The vine-boar was seen hanging upside down by its vines in a nearby tree, and, aside from the vines protruding from its ribcage, it seemed to be a healthy looking boar. Its meat is being preserved while cuts of bancon have already been utilized for the late-night breakfast.
Hysteria has been asked to find an antidote for the seeds by Quince as a safety precaution for future tourists. Hysteria also showed an interest in developing an antidote for the venom that the vines also produce.
Kaswink found another vine-beast while out hunting throughout the downtime between Nurend 06th and 12th. This vine-beast was a wolf, and looked far worse off than the boar she had found before. It was missing two and half legs and its snout was partially rotting away. Not much meat was found in it, but the seeds in its belly and the vines were all quite useful to Hysteria.

Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
As discerned by Kaswink, the life of a "Vine Beast" appears to both end and begin when an innocent beast happens upon either a vine or the seeds of said vine. The seeds are then inhaled or consumed for nourishment and the acids within the beast cause the outer shell of the seed to break and free the plant within.
How long it takes for this process to occur and for the vines to reach a state that they are controlling the beast is unknown at this time.
Hysteria and DAN have since discovered that the seeds found within the vine-boar's gut were actually more like seedpods in that they are coated in a very thin layer of a substance that reacts to the acidic conditions of a creature's stomach. The substance falls away and violently releases a great deal of tiny seeds which can permeate the intestinal lining and find their way into the rest of the body through the blood stream. These seeds sprout into the vines which control the vine-beast, living off of its ingested food/water as well as sunlight.

Uses, Products & Exploitation
The seeds of the vine can be roasted and consumed as nourishment, the benefits or drawbacks of eating them in this way are still unknown as it has yet to be tried or studied by the Spiritual Travelers. However, eating them raw definitely causes the vines to take over the host body.
The seeds have also found another use as devised by Agave. He has suggested they be used to grow a wall in conjunction with other defenses to keep the Expedition Base safe.
Frode has since roasted some of the vine-beast seeds, when consumed in this way they were safe and quite filling, practically a handfull was enough for a full day worth of food.
Hysteria has managed to develop a poison from the venom found in the vines along with an antidote for both the seeds and the vines. This antidote will be a valuable addition to any medkit necessary for tourists in the forests.
