9: Defeated the Chain Ogre Report
General Summary
On the way back from the Ogre camp, the group sleeps in the hills. Upon reaching the grasslands the next morning, they see a group of giant impalas feeding on grass by the shore of a lake. Sneaking in for a closer look, the group are suprised when a giant hawk swoops down and sinks its talons into one of them. As the hawk begins to feed, Uguz charges up to it from behind. The giant hawk, reasonably threatened by the charge when it is in a vulnerable position, spins and throws razor sharp spines from under its wings to defend itself and prevent its kill from being stolen. Uguz, utterly shocked by the evil creatures unwarranted attack, decides HE must defend himself from the big evil scawy bird. A fight begins and quickly becomes a debacle as the hawk uses its speed to take off and snag Uguz. Dropping him from 60 feet, Iris manages to cast Speak with Animals and asks the giant hawk to stop the fight. The hawk then grabs Amnur, lifting him nearly 300 feet into the air, in response to which Amnur uses his sticky glove to attach himself to the hawk to prevent himself from suffering a lethal fall. The giant hawk demands the group leave him and his kill alone, and the group agrees. The hawk returns Amnur to the ground, but the glove remains stuck to its leg. Leaving the hawk in peace, Uguz makes a note to hunt down that giant hawk at a later date.
