Novarth

Master-at-Arms

Novarth is a Moon Elf sailor and until mid-late 1494 DR served as Master-at-Arms of the pirate vessel 'The Manticore' under Captain Loraanys. He is also the twin brother of his fellow crewmate on 'The Manticore'; Nueleth.
Reportedly the crew of The Manticore mostly fractured after the loss of their captain; Loraanys, and the theft of their ship by the Zakharan mariner and slavemaster Abbas Ibn-La'Ahad. Despite the rest of the crew's abandonment of their captain to her fate, Thibaut, Nueleth, and Novarth have sought her since she disappeared and eventually found their way on board 'The Manticore' when she made berth, but quickly found themselves overwhelmed and captured by Abbas's crew.
After being freed by a group of thieves that boarded the ship, Novarth assisted them in sailing the possessed vessel out into open water. When the presence which inabited the ship forced the vessel to sail into the eye of a storm Novarth took charge of the crew and set them to task, personally leading a group of them below decks to secure the shifting cargo to prevent the ship from capsizing in the swell. Novarth returned to the top deck at the sound fo a roar let out by the now awakened the spirit of Loraanys inhabiting the ship's Manticore figurehead. After engaging with the awakened spirit, which at the time had taken control of the ship's Manticore figurehead, the boarders successfully broke Loraanys free of her rage and upon regaining lucidity she conversed with them before the group attempted a rite to set her spirit free once again, which succeeded.
Upon Loraanys' liberation she shared a tearful farewell with her crew and thanked the group before fading away. After a moment to compose himself Thibaut approached the group and offered to sail under them as it was what their captain would have wanted, Novarth and his sister joined Thibaut in salute of the vessel's new commanders and now serves again as the vessel's Master-at-Arms.

Description

Novarth is an Elf of unusually lean and broad frame, standing at around 6'0" with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes, his face and arms are scarred, with those on the face being the most prominent with a long scar running through the left brow and down onto the middle of his cheek, a fine scar from the innermost edge of the left brow to the corner of the right side of his jaw, as well as a scar showing healed split lip which drags down towards his chin from the right corner of his mouth. Novarth is fond of a red bandanna which he uses to help tie back his hair, atop his bandanna Novarth dons a tricorne hat. Novarth wears simple gold earrings in each ear and dons a turquoise and gold trim vest over a light burgundy shirt, the sleeves of which are rolled up to display his tattoos on each arm and presumably onto his torso, the aquamarine ink displays stylised depictions of seas serpents winding their way about the man's frame. Novarth wears a wide belt about his midriff adorned with twisting snakes wrought in silver.

Trivia

Novarth professes that his sister is an accomplished bard, and that the two often ply their respective trades together, with Nueleth playing while Novarth relieves onlookers of the contents of their pockets.
