Military action
The Third Divine Argent March began after the assassination of Heirophant Charendra Kaseen, one of the most beloved Heirophants of the Argent state. Her death was blamed on assassins from Dunekeep. The tenuous peace between the two states erupted into open and cataclysmic warfare.
The young Heirophant Charendra Kaseen was brutally murdered shortly after her ascension to the post of Heirophant of the Sunburst Throne. The youngest leader to ever be anointed to the holy position, she was a beloved and cherished member of the clergy all her young life. A noted pacifist, her brutal assassination came as a shock and a surprise to the state of Argent. The Church of Astor, openly enraged at her death, pinned the crime on an assassin's guild working out of Dunekeep. This quickly lead to the announcement of The Third Divine March, and the south of Cetan was once again covered in Duner and Argentain blood. The first volley of fights happened as the Argentain military rapidly mobilized, sweeping through the countryside. The forces of Dunekeep met the forces of Argent at the crossing of the Southern Great Cetan River, fighting a valiant, and losing, battle. The Argentain army continued their Divine March. More Duner forces intercepted the Argent at the outskirts of the city, and this is where Dunekeep made it's stand. Several days of urban combat transpired, but the Argentain army, road weary and tired, could match the cunning Duners on their own turf. Argent made a hasty retreat. Nepos Sealeaf, a young brigand turned Duner patriot, fought and nearly died in this siege. Soon revitalized, the Storm Chaser headed into the The Storm District with a plan to turn back the tide of this conflict. Nepos, with the help of the Shipdown Council and contacts in the Actor's Guild in Ibia, lead a small scale, covert mission to interrupt Argentain military operations from inside the city-state itself. What followed was a turbulent and often deadly game of cat and mouse, as the Duner spies narrowly escaped deception. One day, however, Nepos and his compatriots stumbled across the truth of the Heirophants murder: Charendra Kaseen, thought to be beloved by all, had been assassinated at the behest of high ranking members of the Church of Astor, not radical Duners as they had claimed, in an attempt to spark a Third Divine March. With assistance from sympathetic Argentain allies, Nepos and his party brought the truth of the assassination to light, and later helped negotiate the Cetan Concordant, the treaty that would ensure peace for centuries to follow.
