Military action
At the behest of Heirophant Hesterin Jaston, Argent attempted a secret, Second Divine March to wipe out their neighbors of Dunekeep. This war was a shocking period of austerity and plague in the state of Dunekeep, and solidified and galvanized the Duner people as a united coalition.
The Second Divine March began as a whisper campaign. This action was not the all out assault that the First Divine March was, but instead, took place quietly over years as Argent attempted assassinations, negotiated power disputes, and traded their way into a position of authority over the Marbled Bay, culminating in outright annexation of the pastures outside of Dunekeep, the regions primary source of food. What followed was a period of austerity in Dunekeep in which large swaths of the population nearly starved to death. Argent offered aid to the ailing in exchange for absolute control of the bay and total conversion of the population towards the Church of Astor. This incensed the Duner people and drove the conflict into the open. Though outright military action didn't occur until 445 AA, and though the Silver Citadel vehemently denies it's role in beginning the conflict, it is widely regarded among most in the academic community that Argent's early subterfuge forced the death of millions. Nepos Sealeaf, just a child during the Second March, would use the horrors of the period of austerity in Dunekeep to help negotiate the Cetan Concordant over a century later, ensuring a period of relative peace and prosperity between the two states.
