Wars between planes broke out, centred around the material plane. The fiends of The Nine Hells rose an army to attack the Material Plane through Setton Regis, in order to control the Nexus Porta. Alliances formed between positive and negative planes on either side, though many stayed neutral. War threatened to unravel the fabric of reality. A calamitous power release occurred that devastated the city of Setton Regis killing many of the inhabitants. The original line of kings was lost. The last of the old Kings, King Tempin sacrificed himself, destroyed the Nexus Porta, having ordered the dismantled pieces to be scattered across his empire so they could not be found.

In the days of the Old Kings, there was harmony between the planes. Travel was permitted and regulated, and centred around the material plane, particularly in Setton Regis, where the Nexus Porta provided a central point of trade and commerce.

Disaster / DestructionConcluding the war of the First Incursion, King Tempin, last of the Old Kings of Setton Regis, destroys the Nexus Porta, the hub of planar travel on the Material Plane. The epicentre of the explosion is seen across the disc in a flash of blinding light. The explosion causes a rift in the barriers between planes, and eventually the region of Infernus begins to merge with The Nine Hells.
The New Order / The Days of the New Kings

After the First Incursion, much of the city was devastated and the line of the Old Kings had gone. A handful of surviving nobles seized power, crowning themselves the New Order of Kings.

Amongst the factionalism and politic following the death of King Tempin, the New Kings allowed the Setton Empire to fall into disarray. After a period of confusion and lack of clear leadership, the Setton Empire all but withdrew from Sinistria, causing their colonised regions to declare independence without much opposition.

Lord Pinder steps down, Lord Proctor becomes Patrician of Setton Regis
Political eventFollowing the embarrassment of the defeat at Infernus, where Setton Regis troops eagerly began a premature assault on Crin territory, falling into enemy's trap, the ageing Lord Pinder steps down. Lord Proctor is unanimously selected as his replacement. Lord Proctor immediately levies additional troops, coordinating the efforts of the allies and preparing for what is likely to become a sustained conflict.
