Nyissa's Spirit Quest

  • The player(s) is/are given a potion by any Disciple of Nyissa in Perlis and are instructed to drink it within the jungle.
  • If they drink it outside of the jungle, nothing happens.
  • If they drink the potion within the jungle, the colours of the jungle seem to become brighter and shift and change. A spirit calling itself the Spirit of the Jungle appears, taking on the form of any creature native to The Great Jungle. The player(s) regain any lost hit points. People who have not drank the potion cannot see the spirit, but the spirit is able to interact with the environment, including to cause harm to enemies.
  • The player(s) is/are told that a nearby water dragon wyrmling has become uncontrollably violent and is upsetting the balance of nature in the area.
  • Upon approaching the area, the player(s) can either choose to attack the water dragon wyrmling or investigate. Successfully investigation of either the animal or the water reveals toxins in the water supply.
  • Following the stream upriver takes the player(s) to Greenleaf Grove, a small hamlet built around Greenleaf Farm, a successful pipeweed farm.
  • Investigation reveals that the farm is using a new pesticide that has had inadvertant effects on the wildlife. Three potential methods of discovering this include: discussions with Mercury Ignis regarding his alchemical work could lead to him excitedly telling you about his brilliant new pesticide; discussions with Gaia Ignis could lead to her to complain about how they got rid of all the insects on the farm; sneaking into the farm and testing the water could show that the farm is connected to the toxins.
  • The players must now pursuade either Mercury or Fortuna Ignis to change their pesticides. They would have more leverage if they presented an alternative plan. Two clues that players might get related to this could be: discussions with Yasmin Titania Azura-Tigran to identify and replace the problematic ingredient in the pesticides; discussions with Artemis Perlis could lead to her voluntering to perform regular purification rituals on the farm's waste water.
  • If the player(s) successfully complete the quest without killing the water dragon wyrmling, then they are granted an appropriate blessing by Nyissa and/or whatever reward the player(s) might have been looking for by completing this quest, at the DM's discretion.
  • If the player(s) harm(s) a living creature, they automatically fail the quest.
  • Completing or failing the quest restores the player(s) vision receptors to their original states.
