Torgvald
Climate: Temperate, Tundra
Terrain: Ocean, Mountains, Forests
Population: Moderate, less than 1 billion
The feudal worlds that exist throughout the Imperium are more or less kept in stasis. Typically, the population of these planets exist at a technological level far regressed from the greater Imperium. Planetary Governors are often stationed in orbit with strict orders or non-interference until the planet is deemed “ready” to join the rest of Mankind on a galactic level. Torgvald, however, proved an exception by way of circumstance. Shortly after developing gunpowder weaponry, the planet’s incubation was cut short by a Chaos incursion, belched forth from the death throes of the withering warp storms. The planet’s primitive defenses were quickly overwhelmed by doomsday cults and massacred by daemons. Rather than lose Torgvald’s resources to the perils of the warp, the Planetary Governor interceded-- contact was established for the first time between the feudal lords and the greater Imperium. Farms became factories, castles became bunkers, and knights brandished chainswords alongside peasant las-gunlines. After decades of bitter fighting, the incursion was all but pushed back. At last, the daemonic threat wanes, but tensions rise as the old order is challenged by the new. Reports abound of knight houses extinguished in a volley of las-fire as lords struggle to maintain order in their lands. The balance of power is shifting drastically. Nobility cries out desperately for Imperial intervention, but as the old peasantry captures more and more of the world’s industrial centers, the Planetary Governor struggles to keep the tithes paid and plays both sides of the conflict to ensure compliance. Meanwhile, remnants of the forces of Chaos seek to take advantage of the infighting and spread their vile taint under the guise of peasant revolts and insurrections. The Planetary Governor has issued an open plea for aid from the High Lords of Festris and local mercenary fleets alike, all while the stage is set for a bloodbath that could prove even more deadly than the apocalyptic wars of decades past.

Geography
Torgvald contains varied geography, similar to Old Earth in the days before an interstellar Humanity.
Ecosystem
The southern hemisphere of the planet consists primarily of inhospitable badlands due to the planets axis and proximity to the system's star. The northern hemisphere, protected somewhat from the radiation output of the stellar center, contains a wide array of ecosystems ranging from temperate forests and tropical jungles to rocky crags and localized deserts. The northern tip of the planet is covered in sheets of freshwater ice and boreal forest.
Ecosystem Cycles
Due to the tide-locked axis of the planet, the seasons of Torgvald are rather insignificant. There is a short "summer" and "winter" period, marked by expanding and receding ice sheets from the north, but the majority of the year is seasonally uneventful.
Localized Phenomena
Strange phenomena can be seen in the stretches of the Northern Wastes, such as strange flickering lights and slowly crackling lightning bolts across the arctic sky. The southern half of the planet consists of an irradiated wasteland, marked by local radstorms and mutated flora/fauna.
Fauna & Flora
Flora in the temperate zone consist of a wide variety of trees, wild herbs with medicinal properties, and local agricultural staples similar to Terran corn, wheat, and beans. Fauna includes a plethora of terrestrial mammals and livestock, as well as large predatory birds on the western edge of the main continent. The jungles to the south are filled with unidentified species, currently being catalogued by those in search of adventure. The saltwater seas are home to a vast array of underwater plants and marine animals.
Natural Resources
The province of Rauschte contains a wealth of manufacturing ingredients such as minerals and ores. The rest of the planet contains lower concentrations of the same elements. The temperate zone of the planet contains fertile soil, especially those areas where major battles were fought during the initial phases of the Infernal Wars. The badlands to the south contain large deposits of salt and other minerals, but due to the climate contains no major human settlements, save for the nomadic strip-mining tribes that roam them.
History
Torgvald was, up until a century ago, an Imperial Feudal world. It wasnt until a Chaos incursion threatened humanity's place on the planet that the Planetary Governor pleaded for aid from the Imperial Guard and Navy. Since the arrival of the Imperium, the world has been brought into Imperial Compliance. Not all of the planet readily accepts the new order, but most deem the safety provided by the Imperial military worth the cost.
