Opa Catori

Opa Catori was born into the the Ditlihi Tribe to her parents Walela and Degataga, and given the name “Wolf Spirit” (Opa Catori). As she grew up within this clan she found herself drawn to the spirits of the animals and plants killed by her people, and took much care to learn from the Ayohuhisdi clan how to properly utilize and appreciate those spirits. When she was 10 years old her parents were asked to join a party to enter the woods and hunt a bear that had been injuring and killing hunters and stealing food from the tribe in the night. When they did not return, Opa Catori was officially adopted by the Ayohuhisdi clan, which she had grown close to over the years.

She began to train in the art of deathwork, finding a knack for the arcane and the essence of death. She became an official apprentice at the age of 13, and trained under the clan’s designated necromancers to become a leader among her people. During these years she found love with a young man of the Kanvwodi clan named Nakamo, and bore a child, whom they named Mato.

Soon after Mato’s birth Opa Catori was informed that the time had come for her final trial as an apprentice, to venture into the Nothing and Nowhere and make her contribution to the maintenance of balance in the universe. Saying her goodbyes to her husband and child, she entered the realm of divinity and magic that she had grown up hearing legends about. She journeyed through the Nothing and Nowhere, making a friend along the way in the form of Hototo, an owlbear cub who – like herself – had been orphaned by forces outside her control.

Soon after meeting Hototo, she felt a sudden call, a pull towards her journey’s intended purpose: the continuation and restoration of balance. Following it, she met Clove, who requested her help in restoring balance to a place Opa Catori had never heard of before: a city in space known as The Orion, where recent events had caused a great disturbance in the tenuous balance that had been holding the place together. Drawing on the teachings of her elders, Opa Catori used the materials she found in the Nothing and Nowhere to create a device, a dreamcatcher that could begin to heal the damage. She brought this device across the threshold into the realm Clove had been protecting.

She found herself in a space full of items from hers and other tribes, held in boxes and hanging on walls. She was confused by this, but decided to use it as a place to protect the dreamcatcher and get her bearings until Clove was ready to call her into action. About a day into her wait, she was confronted by a strange party (The Agitators), seemingly led by a creature she’d never seen before, who were intent on utilizing the space to establish a place of power for The Ether. Opa Catori was ready to fight, until they explained a recent event that had created a rift into the Void. Recognizing her clear disadvantage, and understanding the point these strange individuals were making, Opa Catori decided to take her dreamcatcher and leave that place, entering for the first time into the city of The Orion. Following Clove’s draw, she found her way to the Ku'un and Lothtor.
