CC:Session21: Beware the People Pox
General Summary
After stepping out of their recent battle with the OPD, Mellow and Boots caught up with Otto Keisler. As they stood in the pouring rain, a drunkard approached them and offered a map.
Deciding to forgo all other reasonability, The Agitators decided to follow the clues left by this strange man. Boots had heard of someone named Clove in the city who may know something about the supposed "sun blossom", so the party headed to Lower Gotwurm. Along the way, they stopped by an old junkyard where Collar had mentioned a missing treant sapling.
With the junkyard guarded by a sleeping dog, they tried to break in. Unfortunately, Otto Keisler's attempt at lock picking, awoke the beast and it began to protect the junkyard. Springing into action, they started to "punch the dog through the fence". When an old man came out worried he was being robbed, Boots shadow stepped over and beat him up. He then threatened for the old man to call off his dog and give The Agitators what they want "if you know what's good for you". The terrified elderly man confusingly offered whatever possessions he had in exchange for his life, before realizing that they were after the pesky plant than had been bothering him.
The group dug through the trash until they found the sapling. The creature was adorned in jewelry it had collected and agreed to join the group in exchange for Boot's detective badge and the promise of more jewelry to hand from its budding branches. Boots named the creature Ned, then the old man was given a healing potion, the fence was mended, and the party was on their merry way.
Along the way to Clove, the group ran back into Tiny Tammy who led them to le Pont Enchanté: a mystical bridge that connects The Orion to Nothing and Nowhere, a realm of The Abstract.
Mellow instantly felt more powerful and began to realize this realm was the source of their druidic magic. They headed to the quaint fantasy tavern protected by a flock of Pseudodragons. Inside they met Clove and Opa Catori, along with a bizarre group of homeless people from the city. Clove explained that she was fighting a war on two fronts, both trying to stop the evil Melody from corrupting this mystical land and saving the most lost and forgotten people on The Orion.
The group agreed to help, seeing as this may lead them closer to the fabled Rune of Fortune that a drunk guy poorly drew on a map before passing out. The first step was to trap the trappers who had been kidnapping people from the fabled group. The adventurers headed out into the forest and began screaming "here trapper trapper trapper". Unsurprisingly, the trappers sprung in from the shadows. They trapped Mellow , Boots, and Signal teleporting them to their icy city for nefarious purposes.
As Mellow and Boots killed off the trappers, Otto used his magical bow to row at incredible speeds and travel across a frozen ocean. As the monsters had been dispatched, they decided to enter the town and save Signal. Otto altered himself to look like a monster and Boots poorly disguised himself. They then pretended that Mellow was a prisoner and when that ruse began to fail, they argued they had "people pox" and that all should be worried. With the fear of a plague in the air, they were able to save Signal and head into The Catherdal of Souls.
Inside the tech temple, they discovered a Scur'iek controlling several robots. The individual tried to get them into the well of souls, so they kicked his teeth in and stole his necklace. They then took a small rift into a cavern full of ice goblins.
Faced with several hundred ice goblins, they promptly ran as fast as they could, escaped the cavern, and replaced the only entrance or exit with a wall (hopefully they have food in there). They then traveled to a nearby mountain infused with a spirit from the nonsensical land and received their lore-ridden and deeply meaningful prophecy. The Rune of Fortune then offered to either teleport their friends here to help stop Melody or to transport them back to the city. Deciding that they should probably help Carbide deal with issues at Sakura, they decided to be sent back - but promised to return and help save this odd land...if they have time...and feel like it.
