Oka, The Yellow Faced God, The Eternal Smile, The Burning Mind (OH-Ka)

The patron deity of The Yellow Republic, Oka is worshipped in different ways by different members of the republic. Goliaths view Oka as their sun and fire god, who gifted them gunpowder in order for them to rule the known world. Many Goliaths perform salutations to the sun each morning in order to praise Oka. Goblins, on the other hand, view Oka as a giver of knowledge, taking a less literal interpretation of enlightenment. They often sacrifice small amounts of sulfur whenever creating something that uses it - such as gunpowder - as an offering and thanks to Oka. The Minotaur ships that make up The Yellow Republic’s navies often have grotesque yellow smiling faces emblazoned on the bow or sails of the ships, eschewing ocean deities in favour of The Yellow Faced God.   Oka is also the main deity of The Sunlands, where Tabaxi pay thanks for warm skies and Kenku pray for a break in the burning sun.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The smiling face of Oka is both the symbol of his worship and of The Yellow Republic, and as such is well known throughout all lands. The symbol of a blazing sun is also used in some groups in The Sunlands.

Tenets of Faith

Oka is portrayed as a giver of knowledge within The Yellow Republic, though it is stressed throughout the republic that Oka's knowledge and gifts always come with a cost. Goblins pay this cost in valuable materials in the form of offerings and tribute, and Goliaths through diligent worship and devotion. Minotaur from The Yellow Republic usually take this cost from others.   In The Sunlands, worship of Oka is less fervent but still noticeable in the small offerings and tokens given and worn throughout the different cultures. Here Oka is revered by some and feared by others, and these offerings serve to thank and placate him.
