The River-Monarchs of Vormist

A children's tale amongst Ysoki, stories of the River-Monarchs travel far and wide to the delight of children and campfires everywhere.   Stories vary, but delight in the tellings of the exploits of a variety of river creatures - usually fish or frogs - that live in the rivulets and streams of Vormist.

Historical Basis

Some believe that these stories likely originated from misunderstood encounters with Salientians.

Spread

The stories of the River-Monarchs are wide-spread amongst children and the parents who tell them these stories, and belief in the fairytale creatures of Vormist's waterways is quite ubiquitous amongst the young. Some never grow out of these stories, leading to a few staunch believers in the presence of the River-Monarchs in Vormist.

In Literature

Countless short folios have been written on the various tales of the River-Monarchs of Vormist.

In Art

"The River-Monarchs in Sundra" is a charming painting of a pair of frogs in wide-brimmed hats in a marketplace in the striking Vormist capital of Sundra. It is notable as the Taranthian artist used this painting to elevate and educate Taranthians on the wonders of Vormist and the Ysoki, which had previously been met with distrust and skepticism.
