Tekritanin League (Tek-rit-an-in)
An alliance of nomadic tribes that spanned the area now claimed by Thuvia, founded in the First Age of Osirion and defeated by the Four Pharohs of Ascention.
History
The Tekritanin League formed in the First Age of Osirion during the reign of Azghaad, in response to the growing power of the Jistka Imperium to the West and Osirion, country to the East. Although the Tekritanins engaged in trade with both neighboring nations, border disputes and small wars were common as well.Wars
The Tekritanin League's advantage in war was it's mastery of the local terrain, advanced gurilla tactics, deployment of traps, ability to evade conflicts when the enemy force was too strong to oppose, and due to the League's decentralised leadership, it was a lot easier to win a battle than to defeat the league.Defeat of the Jistka Imperium
The League allied with Osirion in the defeat of their greatest rival, the Jistka Imperium.Fall
It was the begining of Osirion's third age, ushered in by the unification of the Four Pharohs of Ascention, that gave Osirion it's first time of expansionism. The first target was the Tekritanin League, which at this time spanned from the scarab River to the Arcadian Ocean.Culture
As the Jistka Imperium expanded, the nomadic tribes in the area either joined or fled. Those who remained often ended up captured and put into slavery. Those who fled either fled south into the Mawangi Expanse, or East. Around the same time, when Nethys and Azghaad went along the Crook and Sphinx rivers uniting the tribes, and then claimed the entire region around the river after founding the Osirion nation, and subsequently expanded their borders to the Scarab River, Orabi Ocean and Brazen Peaks, the tribes of the area either:- Joined - many moving to the river and learning a settled, agricultural approach to life
- Attempted to remain nomadic within Osirion's borders - This was fairly effective, they were expected to follow Osiriani laws, although when a tribe did not cause problems and largely remained away from settlements of Osirion, the Osiriani didn't have any real issue with this, the problem was for the tribe itself, as more and more locations of water were settled by the Osiriani nation, their interactions with it expanded.
- Left - the only option being west, accross the scarab river.
Very interesting! I'm excited to learn more about this area.
