The Stragglerpeak Mountain
A jagged peak thrusting out from the heart of the Central Highland Region of The Kaldari Highlands, Stragglerpeak is a solitary mountain with sharp cliffs and steep inclines, making it generally avoided by all but the most desperate or deranged.
Geography
Breaking up the highlands to the south-east of The Port City of Rystanburg is a small forest of deciduous trees and flora called The Stragglerpeak Forest. Starting at the near center of the forest and jutting out towards the north is single jagged mountain rising about 4500 feet above the forest canopy below. The mountain's composition is primarily brittle sedimentary rock with a stronger core of metamorphic deeper below, the mountain offers little in the way of passage to it's peak, especially without appropriate Climbing Gear. The forest clings up the sides of the mountain for a few hundred feet, however the soil quality is this and infertile ensuring most flora gains little foothold on the solitary mountain. Instead, the mountain is composed of dusty, brittle stone and ash-grey sand and dirt. Very little grows or lives along it's slopes.
Localized Phenomena
The lack of mineral deposits and difficulty both reach and ascending the mountain would normally be enough to dissuade all but Kaldari Highland Bandits and adventure seeking mountain climbers, but the Stragglerpeak also carries a rather mysterious reputation to most denizens of Central Highland Region and The Village of Tribute.
As long as anyone can recall, rumors of angry and mournful spirits howling at the top of the Stragglerpeak have circulated amongst both human and other races in the area. Whether the mountain truly serves as the resting place for spirits or ghouls remains unverified however, as inquiries made by both The Pantheon Of The Goddess and The Rangers have come back without substantial evidence of unusual spiritual activity or possession. Most sensible beings consider the rumors merely formed from the unsettling silhouette the lonely mountain makes on the Kaldari horizon combined with the mundane howls of pack wolves in The Stragglerpeak Forest. Still though, the game trails weaving close to the cliffs have a reputation for disappearances, and at least a human generation some fool hardy explorer goes missing on the cliffs of the mountain.
Thankfully there is little need to go near the mountain and any disappearances are likely a reflection of the type of person who attempts to explore a "haunted" mountain in the first place.
Natural Resources
While The Stragglerpeak Forest has its share of bounties, the mountain itself revealed little in the way of mineral prospecting. Geomongering Scholars of The Collegiate Arcane have of course given the mountain a cursory assesment, as too have the mineral and mining experts in Stolzetürm. No party has ever found mineral deposits worthy of extracting, must to the dissapointment of the Koslov noble family.
