Personal history

  1. 13DG: Born on Absalom Station. Indigo spent much of his teenage years exploring the Spike.
  2. 37AG: Despite being denied access to Ukulam, Indigo took advantage of the raging Silent War to fly his starship to the continent where its sublight engines inhaled a moldstorm, causing him to crash-land and start a minor forest fire. His adventuring party pressed on towards their goal (based upon rumours), but were eventually all either driven mad or killed - Indigo was the only survivor.

A reenactment of his adventure has been digitised. See below.Pyramid People of Yukalam, E1
“Castrovel crawls with vermin and beasts of all kinds. Thunder-bellied behemoths wield their ferocious strength against the jungle, tearing down ancient trees simply to access the choice upper leaves they so desperately crave. Their mad bellows are no doubt a call to frenzied mating rituals - only the other, more predatory species keep these leviathans from stripping Castrovel of greenery. More vexing, though, are what we’ve come to call 'stingbats' - some hell-devised mongrel of monkey, bat, and scorpion that travel in troops and harass us regularly. I defended my fellows against such a beast off when it chances an assault against my masseuse and shot another in the back as it fled - and from then on we were as mortal opponents in a duel. Every subsequent assault was devised to inflict grevious harm against me...it’s as though they can sense strength such as mine - yet resent it on some primal level.”

“A dramatic spire barely rising above the tree line was the first of our great landmarks. Each side of it was once engraved with untold wisdom, doubtlessly depicting ancient rituals of bloodshed and debauchery...but only those runes sheltered near its base have withstood the eons. The plants there grow thicker on such dark gifts left by the ancient elves...I feel their wiles calling to me, but I shall not succumb!”

“Today, we discovered a second sign that this venture was worth the troubles: a towering elven form, carved from stone and reclining against the ground. Her skin is dotted with horrific boils and blemishes inflicted by disease, obviously indicating to me that this figure must have served as a ritualistic scapegoat for absorbing the illness of some great necromancer-king - possibly even in the hopes of delaying old age, that he might live forever.”

“And so, I am proven right yet again! The fools at the academies will feast on their own insults - unacademic, they called me! Unreliable, and close-minded too! For I, Halkueem Zan, have discovered a city upon Ukalam! They favour a pyramidical style of structure that allows rain to smoothly fall away - though these buildings are now smothered in disgusting vines. As with the famed funerary monuments of lost Osirion, this city was not a place of the living...but a village of the dead! My initial excavations uncovered various stone tiers of fine architecture, covered with runes which recorded much of their history in rich detail - after blasting through such worthless etchings, I was disappointed to find no relics nor gold, as I had been reliably informed there would be. It is obvious to me now that their high priest was a greedy fiend, and overtaxed his charges to keep their prizes...in the mountain temple. We set out to conquer the stairway, at first light tomorrow!”

“My...my masseuse is dead. Slaughtered by a haunted guardian of unimaginable power. My brave, brave cameraman sacrificed his life that I may survive - "go on!" he called, grasped in the first of that fell creature. "Leave me!" were his last words to me. I shall never forget the sacrifice of…

...my cameraman. I must declare this venture to be futile. Perhaps another location shall be easier to delve. I hear that the Chalkmound Ziggerats of Aucturn are once again in use. I'm sure my fans will prefer something less dangerous.
  3. 299AG: Confirmation of Indigo leaving Absalom Station. He stated his intent to travel to Aucturn.

Failures & Embarrassments

  • Caused xenoseekers to be banned from Castrovel for 10 years, and a Xenowardens to announce a kill-on-sight policy for any unauthorised personnel found on Ukulam.

Mental Trauma

  • (Post-mortem) Sociopathic tendancies.

Morality & Philosophy

Despite his claims that "Artefacts belong in museums", those that found their way into his care were only displayed there for close to a year before discreetly being sold off to the highest bidder - rarely the same people as the previous caretakers of said Artefacts.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Despite Indigo's constant denials, he consistently and publicly displayed several personal motivators.
  • Fame.
  • Credits.
  • Sexual conquest.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

...travelogue that focuses more on lauding the author’s bravery, as much as it describes the culture that built the sites using ample unacademic terminology such as “exotic,” “savages,” and “time immemorial.”
— Yet Another Criticism of the False Xenoseeker, by Dr Halkueem Zann
Although initially Indigo was hailed as a leading man of science, a wide variety of people worked to discredit his frequently tawdry 'scientific reports'. Not merely limited to scholar of archaeology, and professional xenoseekers of the newly-minted Starfinder Society, his colleagues among the famed vid-stars actively voiced their opinions against him. Unconfirmed rumours suggest that a small price on his head was beginning to grow rapidly during his most busy years.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Although records from alternative sources were destroyed in an unfortunate fire, Indigo has featured the then-budding Starfinder Society as brutish villains or slapstick comedy in several of his vids.

Family Ties

An only child. Not much is known about his father, other than his employment as a mechanic in the Spike. Records of Indigo's mother are nonexistent.

Wealth & Financial state

Wealthy. According to his will, Indigo's considerable wealth will remain in stasis for an indefinite period, until such a time as his return.
