History

During the First Civilization

The original settlement was founded in the year 542 NZR, under the name of Dekama-Ib. Sheltered by the nearby mountain ridge, the farming village in the jungle soon grew into a town and was renamed to Dekama-Za in 488 NZR.   Since both the mountain ridge and the river formed natural borders, the town eventually found itself separated into the fortified upper town and the farmland south of the river. The two neighboring nations fought over controlling both parts, temporarily cutting off the upper town from its food supply. A trade agreement was reached on 473 NZR, Guztinoma 16, one of many agreements that paved the way for the cooperation within the Ran-E-Zu Confederation.

During the Final War

In the early years of the war, the town became an important food supplier as it was located deep within the Ran-E-Zu territory and safe from invading forces. The town was bombarded by the Rilanga Union in an air raid on 3 NZR, Keponoma 23. Many buildings were destroyed in the process and large parts of the surrounding jungle caught fire, forcing the people to flee higher into the mountains. The region became completely uninhabitable by the end of the The Final War, when weapons of mass destruction contaminated the vast majority of the populated areas with radioactivity and chemical warfare agents.

During the Era of Recovery

The valley was recolonized by the Rilsu in 28 VZR. A new town was built on the ruins of Dekama-Za, under the Rile name of Zakdegma.   Over time the ties between the neighboring towns became stronger, with numerous roads connecting them and gaps between the buildings closing. In the year 527 Zakdegma was subsumed under the metropolitan area of Kepzal Pastib, becoming a city district named Zakidema.   As the urban areas became denser and the boundaries between them blurred even further, the zakdengok of Redo-Iv emerged. Kepzal Pastib was renamed to Redo-Iv Akusi in the year 744 VZR.

Geography

Zakidema is situated on the banks of the Zaldemaru river which in turn runs along a shallow mountain ridge to the east of the Ralenlos Mountains.   The original name dekama-za translates as "green town", alluding to the rich vegetation in the area. The same meaning was adopted when the Rilsu rebuilt the settlement under the name Zakdegma.
