Auran Falcons

Auran Falcons are highly prized in K'ul Goran, and it's a sure sign of prestige to own one yourself. For most people, Auran Falcons are only accessible at the Falconer Stations present in most large cities and a few smaller more rural locations. They are, without question, the finest messengers in the country.
Outside of K'ul Goran, Auran Falcons would be interesting, but not truly outstanding. Predominately white with some streaks of green among their feathers, they're relatively small and compact creatures, clearly built for speed. In normal conditions, they would outpace many, but not all birds. In K'ul Goran however, they are the fastest moving creature in the country.
The winds are powerful and chaotic in K'ul Goran, caused by the thin veil between the Material Plane and the Plane of Air in the region. This means that most birds struggle to fly well, as they are continually being buffeted by winds from different directions. The Auran Falcon, on the other hand, soars effortlessly in the air in long looping curves like a quill on parchment.
Biologists have determined that this falcon's advantage lies in an innate, as-yet-unexplained understanding of all the air currents ahead of it, like it can see them and therefore plan ahead - something no other creature can do. The Auran Falcon swoops and curves as it flies, moving from one air current to the next with as little disruption as possible. As a result, though it seldom flies in a straight line, it can arrive at its destination much faster than any other bird. Even the Hillsurfers piloted by the fastest pilots struggle to keep up with them, and so they have been bred and kept as messenger birds for centuries.
